3) Heritage Skills: Green Wood Working

20 August 2016, 10:00 – 13:00

Carlingwark Park

The attraction of working with green (unseasoned) wood has increased recently as nationwide initiatives to support heritage skills have hit the headlines. At this open session, using traditional woodworking tools including a draw knife, shave horse and hand chisels to shape items on a pole lathe, you’ll learn all the basic skills you’ll need to progress on to a bigger project. Led by Tom Henry, a Dumfries & Galloway Council Ranger, and in association with the Galloway Glens Scheme, this drop in session in Carlingwark Park is a great introduction to the art of working with unseasoned wood using traditional methods.
