Natural Landscapes of the Galloway Glens

The natural landscape of the Galloway Glens area is varied and subject to a unique set of forces for change, particularly connected to man’s impact on the environment.

This programme of work comprises a suite of projects that aim to undertake practical improvement works as well as to educate residents and visitors in the challenges facing the natural landscape. Projects such as ‘Peatland Connections’, ‘Greenland White Fronted Geese’ and ‘Natural Flood Management Facilitation’ will have national implications on policy and approach, while others such as the Red Squirrel Conservation project support targeted, on-the-ground work to protect flagship species of the area.
